Extension Policies of JenTaxPrep
No one likes to file extensions, but there are only 12 weeks during the spring tax season, so it may be necessary to file for an extension if we run out of time.
AN EXTENSION DOES NOT EXTEND THE TIME TO PAY, ONLY THE TIME TO FILE! FOR TAX YEAR 2024, THE FULL AMOUNT OF TAX MUST BE PAID BY APRIL 15, 2025 OR YOU WILL BEGIN ACCRUING PENALTIES AND INTEREST.
Here's how it works:
1. If you are one of the first 250 people in the queue, then your return will be completed by the deadline of April 15, assuming you respond to all requests for information in a timely manner. (Note that new clients go one month back in the queue, meaning if you give me your stuff Feb 3, then you go in the queue Mar 3.) If you want one of these slots, I recommend getting your stuff in by Mar 2.
2. If you are one of the next 50 people in the queue, then I will do my absolute best to get you done by the deadline, but you may need to extend. I will do a personalized estimate of what you may owe to any taxing authorities so you can make any necessary payment with extensions and avoid any penalties. If you want one of these spots, I recommend getting your stuff in by Mar 9 (Feb 9 for New Clients). DISCLAIMER: JenTaxPrep is not responsible for any late payment penalties due to underestimation of the amount owed if it is due to any missing information from the client.
3. If you are the 301st person in the queue or higher, you will definitely be filing an extension, and I will not be able to do a personalized estimate. You will need to estimate how much you owe with extension by using Jen's Rule of Thumb! DISCLAIMER: JenTaxPrep is not responsible for ANY late payment penalties if the Rule of Thumb underestimates the amount you owe. Also, you MUST fill out an exension request form to get an extension, JenTaxPrep is not responsible for failure to file penalties if you do not fill out the form.
4. For extended returns, if you do not submit all needed documents by Sept 15, then JenTaxPrep cannot guarantee completion before the extended tax deadline of Oct 15.
5. If you know you will need an extension and want to proactively get it filed, email Jen and she will send you the extension form and instructions. If there are still slots available, you can upload your documents for an estimate of taxes, or just use the Rule of Thumb if you don't want to upload everything.
