How to have a Tax Prep appointment with Jen!
In person appts in NYC may be happening Mar 11-14, 2023 at my co-working space at 39th and Broadway!
1. Check out the scheduling page and sign up for an appointment. Note that there is a $50 deposit required due to high demand. Make sure you check you read the Rules for In Person Appts and check your Appt Readiness before scheduling!
2. Prior to the appointment, fill out the Client Intake Form and any spreadsheets for deductions to the best of your ability and email it back to [email protected], no need to bring receipts unless you have questions about them! Get them here! Make sure the Spreadsheets are file type xls, ods, or a shared Google Sheet.
3. Prior to the appointment, gather all your income documents - W2s or 1099s from every job, and info about income from other sources such as savings account interest, investments, unemployment etc. If you are missing a W2, wait to schedule until you have all your documents. If you know for certain there is no possibility of getting a missing W2, email [email protected] for possible workaround. Also note that if your job is on a 1099 (i.e. no taxes taken out) you won't get a 1099 for any amounts less than $600. If you need to electronically send me any docs, let me know and I can send you a secure link, or returning clients can upload their documents directly to the 2022 folder in their TaxDome account.
4. Prior to your appointment, gather any other tax documents, such as student loan interest, mortgage interest, and your health insurance documents. Those can also be uploaded to TaxDome. Also, if you are a new client, a copy of your prior year return is also super helpful!
5. Bring any physical copies of documents and your ID to your appointment. Be prepared to pay the tax prep fee by cash, check, Zelle, or debit/credit. Also bring your bank account and routing number if you want direct deposit/direct debit.
6. Have your appt, pay, sign the docs, and get sent a link to download the full copy of your return! Be sure to save it!
7. Treat yourself to something to a brownie and/or margarita, you completed your 2022 taxes!
